Texas Electric Cooperatives (TEC) is a statewide organization dedicated to representing the interests of cooperative electric utilities in Texas and the member-consumers they serve. Established in 1941 and based in Austin, TEC today represents the state's 73 electric distribution cooperatives and its 11 generation and transmission (G&Ts) cooperatives. TEC's president and chief executive officer is Mike Williams.

National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) is the national service organization dedicated to representing the national interests of cooperative electric utilities and the consumers they serve. The NRECA Board of Directors oversees the association's activities and consists of 46 members, one from each state in which there is an electric distribution cooperative. The chief spokesman for the nation's electric cooperatives is NRECA Chief Executive Officer Glenn English.
